Fried Calamari with Lemon Aioli

Ingredients:
For Calamari
- 1 lb uncooked calamari rings
- 1 ½ cup buttermilk
- 1 cup flour
- 1 Tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne
- Mazola® Corn Oil for frying (approx. 8 cups)
- Chopped parsley for garnish
- Lemon wedges to serve
For Lemon Garlic Aioli
- ⅓ cup mayo
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- ½ lemon, juiced
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- ¼ teaspoon tabasco
- Salt and pepper
Directions:
- Prepare lemon aioli by combining ingredients together. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, soak calamari rings in buttermilk for 20 minutes.
- In a large skillet, preheat Mazola® Corn Oil to 375 F.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour with seasonings.
- Working one handful at a time, coat calamari in seasoned flour and drop it into the hot oil.
- Cook until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from the oil with a slotted spoon and place on a paper-towel-lined plate.
- Continue until all calamari rings have been fried.
- Transfer to serving dish, sprinkle with parsley and serve with lemon wedges and lemon garlic aioli.
