Dana Irving is an artist, painter, singer, dancer, costume maker, musician. All the artsy stuff.
Trained in traditional life drawing and painting at Victoria College of Art and Emily Carr University. Studies included photography, graphic design and oil painting, music (guitar, ukulele, voice), sewing, and ballroom dancing.
Born in rural BC, Dana has always enjoyed the great outdoors, hiking and kayaking. She defines her art as uniquely and passionately Canadian. She is particularly interested in the beauty of the West Coast and the Rocky Mountains. Just give her a Gulf Island view or a turquoise, glacier lake and see what happens.
Her painting style is born out of a deep affection for the Canadian painters in the Group of Seven and Emily Carr. Her work is stylized landscape with a generous touch of whimsey.
She has had solo shows across Western Canada consistently since 2009. She is represented by 6 different galleries in the region, and her work is now in collections all over the world.
While being a professional gallery artist/ landscape painter is her career, she has also written and recorded more than 30 original songs and continues with music on a hobby level. She is also an expert seamstress and enjoys making costumes for her ballroom dance performances.
