Onion Ring Chips
Prep Time: 15 min
Total Time: 30 min
Serving: 4 to 8
Ingredients:
- 250 g Armstrong Italiano Natural Shredded Cheese
- 3 large yellow onions
- Olive oil spray
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground pepper
For the sauce
- 1 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
- Fresh chives, finely chopped
- 1 clove fresh garlic
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel the onions and slice them into ½-inch-thick rounds using a mandoline.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and evenly spread the Armstrong Italiano shredded cheese across the surface.
- Place the largest onion slices over the cheese to create evenly sized chips. Spray with olive oil.
- In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle over the onion slices.
- Bake for 10–14 minutes, or until the cheese and onions are golden brown. Keep a close eye to prevent burning!
- While baking, add the sour cream or Greek yogurt to a bowl. Mix in chopped chives, grated garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Let the chips cool slightly, then gently lift them from the tray. Cut them into square or round chip-sized portions. Serve with the dip, and enjoy every crunchy, savoury bite!
