What is your business called and what does it do?

My business is called Foxy Box Wax Bar, and we specialize in high-quality hair removal services, including Brazilian waxing and laser hair removal. We’re all about creating an empowering, fun, and inclusive experience, shifting people from shame to celebration and helping them feel confident in their skin. With a membership model and a strong community focus, we’ve built a thriving franchise that offers consistent, expert services across multiple locations. At Foxy Box, we’re not just removing hair—we’re breaking down taboos, embracing individuality, and making self-care something to celebrate!

What made you want to do this work?

I fell in love with the art of waxing—there was something so satisfying about watching the wax go on and revealing smooth skin underneath. I knew right away that I wanted to master this craft and create an amazing experience for clients. Once I found a recipe for success in business, I realized my true passion was empowering others to do the same. That’s when I started franchising, to inspire and support other women in their entrepreneurial journeys and help them build businesses they love.

What problem did you want to solve with the business?

My goal when I first started Foxy Box in 2012 was to bring convenience and consistency to the market at a time when the concept of wax bars was relatively new. At Foxy Box, we see our services not only as a form of hair removal but as a way to make people feel comfortable and confident in their skin.

Who are your clientele/demographics?

All genders, ages 18-80

How does your business make money? How does it work?

Foxy Box makes money in two key ways:

On the B2C side, we generate revenue by providing expert hair removal services, including waxing and laser hair removal. Our membership model creates a steady stream of recurring revenue for our franchisees, while laser hair removal offers a higher-ticket service that adds to profitability.

On the B2B side, we earn revenue at the franchise level through royalties, taking a percentage of our franchisees’ sales in exchange for ongoing support and resources. Since our success is directly tied to their success, we are deeply invested in helping our franchisees thrive, and we take pride in providing them with the tools they need to perform at their best!

Where in the city can we find your profession?

We have two locations in Vancouver, one in Mount Pleasant at 73 Kingsway and one in West Point Grey at 4383 West 10th Avenue, as well as a location in Port Coquitlam and Abbotsford.

What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services? Give the answer as well.

“What sets your hair removal services apart from others?

Answer: At Foxy Box, we’re not just about hair removal—we’re about empowerment, expertise, and experience. Our Vagicians (expert waxers) are highly trained to deliver the fastest, most efficient, and least painful service possible. We offer a membership model for affordable, consistent self-care, and we’re also GreenCircle Certified, meaning we recycle all our single-use items for a more sustainable beauty routine. Plus, our fun, inclusive, and judgment-free environment ensures that every client leaves feeling celebrated, not just serviced!

What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?

The best part of what I do is empowering people—whether it’s helping clients feel confident in their skin or supporting franchisees in building successful businesses. Seeing someone go from feeling invisible to powerful, from shame to celebration, is incredibly rewarding. I also love the community we’ve built—Foxy Box is more than a business; it’s a movement. The toughest part is that business ownership is never easy—there are always challenges, from managing growth to supporting struggling franchisees. It can be a lot to juggle, especially while balancing family life. But at the end of the day, the highs far outweigh the lows, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

What is your favourite joke about your own profession?

I always say, “Love us or hate us, you won’t forget us.” Foxy Box isn’t just a wax bar—it’s an experience. Some people might think we push the envelope a little with our bold branding, but we embrace it! We’ve got “Viva La Vulva” on mugs and treatment room walls, we proudly say “Don’t Beat Around the Bush,” and our waxers? They’re Vagicians. Not everyone has a funny bone, but for those who do, we make hair removal a pretty good time!

PAY IT FORWARD: What is another local business that you love?

Turnabout consignment. I grew up shopping at Value Village. My dad called it VV boutique and would give my sisters and me $20 each and say Get whatever you want! I loved hunting for cool clothes at a great bargain, and that’s still ingrained in me. I buy almost everything second hand and love consignment shopping. Turnabout has nailed it. The layout of their stores, the well-curated pieces and the customer experience. If I’m ever having a bad day, I bring my butt in there, and the friendly staff who help you shop can turn your day around in a snap.
