Meet Sniper!
This one-eyed senior girl is looking for a quiet retirement home. Sniper isn’t happy here at the shelter. She doesn’t want to be here and would much rather be in a quiet adult only home where she can be the center of attention. While Sniper’s been quiet as a mouse in shelter she apparently was quite the chatty girl in her previous home. In her previous home, she was also quite social and friendly with her people. In shelter she has been withdrawn and unsure of interacting with humans, she will come out for treats (she loves temptations and friskies lil’ soups!) but quickly retreats when her snacks are gone. She enjoys playing with feathers or wand toys for brief periods.
Sniper has always been an indoor-only cat and would like to remain indoors in the future. Given she is missing an eye from kittenhood she is not well equipped to be an outdoor cat. Sniper is hesitant to make friends and unsure of herself in her current environment, living in a shelter can be hard, we are optimistic that once in a home she will blossom into a wonderful social happy kitty.
Sniper has needed regular grooming to look her best throughout her life. She isn’t a fan of being groomed though so she may need anti-anxiety medication prior to vet visits and grooming appointments to set her up for success. Regular grooming helps keep her coat matt free and comfortable. Sniper is currently on a special diet to manage her anxiety as well as to treat cystitis. Cystitis is a chronic condition of bladder inflammation that causes inappropriate urinating during flare-ups. The diet should prevent any flare-ups and we have not noticed any inappropriate elimination in Sniper since she has arrived in care.
