Recipe for Zero-Proof Cocktail Sweet Saga from Prophecy Bar

Crafted with care by the team at Prophecy Bar in Vancouver, the Sweet Saga is a warm, decadent winter drink designed for comforting nights and cozy gatherings. Blending rich cocoa, maple-pecan sweetness, and an aromatic tonka bean cream, this signature recipe showcases the bar’s dedication to inventive flavours and thoughtful technique.

Zero-Proof Cocktail Sweet Saga

Ingredients:

  • 225ml Whole Milk
  • 30ml Maple Pecan Syrup*
  • 10g Cocoa Powder
  • Small Pinch Salt
  • Tonka Bean Whipped Cream**
  • 1 small piece dark chocolate

Directions:

  1. Whisk together first four ingredients and heat gently on the stove under low heat, until hot but not boiling.
  2. Add hot water to the mug and allow the mug to heat thoroughly.
  3. Pour out hot water, and pour heated Sweet Saga into glass.
  4. Top with Tonka bean whipped cream, grate dark chocolate over top, and enjoy.

*For Maple Pecan Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 300g Chopped Pecans
  • 400g Maple Sugar
  • 400g Water

Directions:

  1. In a small pot, add chopped pecans and put on medium heat. Toast pecans until aromatic (about 3-5 minutes).
  2. Add in Maple Sugar and Water. Stir well to combine.
  3. Allow to come to a low simmer, and let simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Remove heat, Strain out pecans (set aside to enjoy, they’re delicious)
  5. Keep in fridge until ready to use.

**For Tonka Bean Cream

Ingredients:

  • 500ml Whipping Cream
  • 100ml Simple Syrup (1:1)
  • 1 Tonka Bean

Directions:

  1. In a clean ISI canister, combine Simple Syrup and Whipping Cream
  2. Using a microplane, grate 1 tonka bean into mixture.
  3. Stir well to combine, seal, and charge with 1 charger
  4. Keep in fridge until ready to use.
