Tanja Hinder and I met in the same way most platonic business marriages/design partnerships begin…on Craigslist.
In 2017, she hired me…fresh out of design school, to assist her – at the time we were a team of two and working on a limited number of projects. In the time since, we have started a furniture brand, grown to a team of 6 and juggle a full portfolio of projects and an occasional social life.
I couldn’t talk about who Tanja is without first describing our partnership and how her creative energy and mine seem to match so perfectly, I sometimes describe her to people who don’t know her as my design soulmate because everything I do on my own is double as good with her input. It would be easy to say that it’s just a magical chemistry that explains our collaborative output, but that isn’t the case. The truth of the matter is our magic is all Tanja. She knows how to extract the best in everyone she interacts with; how to mix encouragement, softness, and playful debate to motivate people to their maximum potential, all while still managing to constantly innovate and expand her own creative practice. From furniture and products, to interiors and beyond, Tanja is a design force to be reckoned with.

Which ‘hood are you in?
I split my time between East Van and the Southern Gulf Islands.
What do you do?
I create beautiful things (objects & spaces) together with work-wife Lauren and our amazing team. Our designs are achieved by collaboration and playful battle.
I consider that one of my strengths in my position is my balance of left and right brain to make sure we are highly creative but also business smart.
What are you currently working on?
Several interior projects (new houses and renovations) as well as placing our products in stores around the world and developing our next one. I mean, developing products is an ongoing and unavoidable part of our days.

Interiors are found in Vancouver, Whistler, and the Southern Gulf Island or on our Marrimor Interiors website. Our products are currently sold at M2L in New York, Boston, and Washington DC as well as through our Objects website.
