Located in the heart of Mount Pleasant on Main Street, Parliament Interiors is a modern furniture and home décor store. They carry a selection of warm, mid-century inspired offerings, including space-saving furniture for smaller spaces. Their guiding goal is to offer a fabulous assortment of modern furniture and accessories at great prices. We spoke with Colette Soros, Minister of Environment at Parliament Interiors, to learn more.

What is your business called and what does it do?
Parliament Interiors. We are a locally owned and operated home furnishings store located in the heart of Mount Pleasant, Vancouver, BC. We specialize in furniture, decor, lighting, art, vintage goods, and have a stunning plant department called “Kermodi Living Art”.
What made you want to do this work?
We are passionate about good design. We enjoy being part of a brilliant community. We love helping our clients elevate their spaces by blending form and function around their unique needs.
What problem did you want to solve with the business?
Continuing to source goods that are high quality and also good value – even more important in this current economic climate.
Who are your clientele/demographics?
New home owners, down-sizers, designers, realtors and people who reside in Metro Vancouver who are interested in unique, locally-made goods and a one-stop shop for gifts.
How does your business make money? How does it work?
We are a retail store, open 7 days a week.

We are a local, owner-operated business, with a focus on locally-made furniture, art and an incredible assortment of vintage finds.
What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?
Best – Spending time in a profession doing what we really enjoy and in a space that is very inspiring.
Worst – Resisting the endless parade of amazing goods – including weekly vintage drops.
What is your favourite joke about your own profession?
As designers, we designed our dream job – plus a beautiful work environment that feels like more play than work.
