Bao Bei (163 Keefer St)
If you like piña coladas… Bao Bei is the spot for your next romantic date night. The soft pink interior envelopes you as soon as you enter, and the small plate menu is designed to be shared. The name “Bao Bei” literally means precious, and it is a treasured Chinatown restaurant for good reason. There is no better place to share some Petits Cadeuax with someone special than in their intimate dining room. Don’t forget to snap a selfie in the bathroom to commemorate the occasion.
Caffe La Tana (635 Commercial Dr)
Enjoy delicious fresh made pasta and small plates for sharing at this sexy little spot on Commercial Drive. Caffe La Tana, the sophisticated sister of Pepino’s, is the place to bring a date if you want to have a Lady and the Tramp style romantic noodle sharing moment. Their features change daily which also offers an element of surprise. Plus La Tana serves a breakfast sandwich and coffee if you’d rather end your date there the morning after, rather than start it there. The small space provides the opportunity to get cosy and the all Italian wine list will transport you.
Between 2 Buns/The Keefer (105 E Pender St/135 Keefer St)
For a slightly lower budget option that will still be unforgettable in terms of flavour, grab a burger from Between 2 Buns and then, fortified with a belly full of beef and cheese, slip into the Keefer and indulge in a few cocktails in the dim lighting of this Chinatown staple. Dark and moody, very romantic and private, this apothecary themed bar serves creative and well crafted drinks. You can grab a double burger at Between 2 Buns for under $20 and a Happy Hour cocktail from the Keefer for under $10 while still wooing your beloved.
Seasons in the Park (Queen Elizabeth Park)
Seasons in the Park boasts stunning panoramic views of not just Queen Elizabeth Park but the entire city at any season. The atmosphere is dramatic and romantic, with the patio featuring outdoor fireplaces and chandeliers. Even the drive through the park to get to the restaurant sets the mood. Seasons is not only open year round but also all day long serving lunch as well as weekend brunch.
Les Faux Bourgeois (663 E 15th Ave)
Murmur to each other over the candle light at this petite French bistro. Tucked away on Kingsway in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood, Les Faux Bourgeois (or Fauxbo as it is affectionately nicknamed) feels casual, yet intimate and romantic. The food is simple yet exquisitely executed, as French bistro food should be. The menu is minimal yet flavourful featuring tartare de boeuf, mushroom risotto, and steak frites.
