How would you describe your comedy style?
Storytelling meets Physical comedy.
I tend to talk really fast cause I get super excited about my own stories. I feel like I need to buy the audience a pedal bike just to keep up or wear a parachute to stage.
Who are some of your influences?
Kevin Hart, Jerry Seinfeld, Ali Wong, Ronny Chieng, Dave Chappelle, Marlon Wayan
Who was your favourite comedian growing up?
Jerry Seinfeld
Who is your favourite comedian now?
Kevin Hart
What is your pre-show ritual?
I always drink a beer before the show to loosen my muscles up, then before my set, I’ll go to the washroom. If somebody’s there, I warm up by making him laugh with a joke while we are at the urinals, washing our hands or on the toilet stalls.
What is your favourite place you have performed? Why?
Improv Center — when Lukas brings the comics down the hallway… it felt like the backstage of Saturday Night Live (not that I would know, I just watched the episodes lol), and the audience — LOVE to laugh, and the front row is always wild!
Dat Cartel Comedy at Mangos — a great place to test new material or rehearse the same old — never know what you’re going to get into the crowd, it’s a surprise so it keeps you on your toes. People love walking in front of you, people on the other end are there to hang out with themselves so it really makes you better as a comic. You have to really get good in order to get people’s attention. Amazing staff too!
Tags Comedy at Levels — love the moody lighting, it makes ya feel like its a VIP room. Great management, audience is there to laugh — the black box stage is great. Always a good time!
House of Comedy (New West) – such a great big area for audience — they’re also there to laugh! love the vibe, the spotlight, the setup is fantastic.
What is your favourite medium for listening or finding new comics/comedians?
I watch a lot of stand up comedy on Netflix, “The StandUps” is a great one. Instagram reveals a lot of comedians that are just crushing it around the world!
Do you have anything to promote right now?
May 7/8 – I’ll be opening up for 8 hilarious comics in Comedy InvAsian happening at Firehall Arts
May 10 – I’ll be at House of Comedy’s Funniest Person with a day job
