“A Day in the Life” with: Vancouver Performing Artist Steffanie Davis

Local icon Steffanie Davis is an actor, singer, body inclusivity advocate and all-around baddie. When she is not roaming Commercial Drive in search of exquisite coffee or the perfect cocktail, she can be found on stage. Local audiences will remember her star turns in the East Van Panto two years running (she is still frequently recognized for her immortal turn as equine cop ‘Toni the Pony’), as well as her many delightful appearances at the Arts Club Theatre Company, Theatre Under the Stars, and most recently Bard on the Beach. Steffanie also frequently brings the house down at Guilt&Co, where her popular series Shower Tunes showcases her wit, charisma, and unbeatable set of pipes. But beyond her work as a performer, Steffanie has made an indelible mark on the Vancouver community for her kindness and generosity, wicked sense of humour, and her advocacy for plus-size bodies. From modelling for size-inclusive local fashion lines like Nettles Tale and Free Label, to speaking out about bias against plus-sized bodies on stage, Steffanie has made a meaningful impact towards the dignified (and sexy!) representation of those outside the status quo. To know her is to love her, and as her star rises, Steff brings everyone along with her.

Which ’hood are you in?

I’ve lived in East Van, specifically Commercial Drive, for a decade now and for me, it’s home. I moved around a lot growing up, and so this is the longest I’ve ever lived in one place. The Drive is a community, and I’m very proud to be part of it.

What do you do?

I’m an actor, singer, dancer & model. I work primarily in theatre, but I occasionally dabble in film & TV when I’m not on stage. Previously,  I also worked for a long time in the restaurant industry to support my life as an artist. And of course, whenever possible, I’m singing – often at venues like Guilt & Company.

What are you currently working on?

I’m currently in rehearsals for Disney’s Frozen at the Arts Club Theatre Company & preparing for my next Guilt & Company show on October 20th! So my brain is holding a LOT of music at the moment. Next spring, you can catch me in Kimberly Akimb,o also with the Arts Club!

Where can we find your work?

My Instagram is where I generally post about upcoming projects!
