Adrienne Nye is presenting her debut solo EP These Winter Skies, which came out on April 27th. Her history in music and performance translates into sound musicianship. Her stage presence is intoxicating as is her ability to move her voice like the instrument it is. We had the chance to catch up with her to find out more about her influences, style and projects.

Favourite musician growing up:
I grew up listening to the angelic melodies and sweet harmonies of Sarah McLachlan. I think I learned every song and every harmony she ever released.
Favourite musician now:
Lights is hands down my favourite artist currently. She is a powerhouse of creativity, songwriting and versatility. I also love the way she does multiple versions of her songs, the high energy and then the stripped-down. It really allows the listener to tune into the lyrics and hear the song in a different and more intimate way.
Guilty pleasure song:

Live show ritual:
A minimum one-hour vocal warmup, stretching, Throat Harmony tea by Harmonic Arts, water and a straw and I try to keep talking to a minimum. After the show, whisky shots or a cocktail!
Favourite local musician:
Right now I’d have to say Louise Burns, not only cause she taught me songwriting while I was in school for music production and recording but also because she is an all-around great musician and inspiring human being.
EP or LP?
Ooooh, that’s a tough one. LPs are kind of not the norm anymore so I wanna appreciate the effort it takes to make one and market one.
Early bird or night owl?
Night owl. Always have been and always will be.
Road or studio?
Studio is my sacred space. It’s the space where I get to be, create and do with no one watching. It’s where I can let down my walls and be vulnerable and let whatever is within come out without judgment.
Any shows or albums coming up?
My debut solo EP These Winter Skies came out on April 27th. These Winter Skies is a concept album exploring the emotional and psychological nuances of finding light through darkness. It’s a journey of hope and finding home and solace in oneself in times of struggle, hardship and heartbreak. It’s a beacon to those who may find themselves lost at sea. It’s a story of triumph over one’s own shadow.
