Rosé Disco: More Than Just a Wine Festival

As summer heats up in Vancouver, it’s clear that tourism is thriving. This past week was bustling around English Bay, with the Celebration of Light featuring drone shows and fireworks on Saturday, Wednesday, and again on Saturday. Beyond the fireworks, beaches and patios have been packed as we enter the hottest days of the year.

And with hot days and heavy tourism come some of the greatest events of the year – and no group is better known for curating these experiences than Feaster. Hosting themed parties all summer, Feaster’s latest installations have caught the city’s attention, and it seems like everyone is talking about their next event. Just last week, they held The Cup, a vintage formal-themed horse racing event. But this past weekend, their infamous event, Rosé Disco, arrived at the PNE fairgrounds and once again proved to be an undeniable success.

Rosé Disco is a full-day event featuring sips of local and international rosé wines, alongside some of Canada’s best rosé. There were food vendors from all over the city and live DJs spinning tunes, including Felix Cartal and friends.

Upon arrival, it was clear that the Rosé Disco is not your average wine festival. Attendees took the dress code quite seriously and fully embraced the theme, dressing in rose and white hues that effortlessly complemented the meticulously themed atmosphere, complete with rose-tinted umbrellas and glistening disco balls.

During the day, live DJ sets by Jessue and Pyka brought forward tech-house energy to the stage. The Phantoms, internationally renowned DJs known for blending house and indie dance, took things to the next level.

But of course, the real star was the rosé. Over 30 tastings were available, both local and international, with standout pours including:

● Quails’ Gate – Field & Flight Rosé 2024 from Kelowna, BC
Vibrant and silky, with a crisp citrus finish.

● Lakeboat Vineyard – Lakeboat Rosé 2023 Kaleden, BC
Off-dry with bright acidity, refreshing and fruit-forward rosé.

● Domaine Artema – Rosé Village 2023 from Oliver, BC
A summer-perfect pour with notes of spicy rhubarb and savoury herbs.
(Bonus: each glass came with an actual rose.)

The food selection was just as impressive, with 19 vendors offering a diverse range of options – from Mexican and seafood to gelato. Between the award-winning wine, food, and effortless photo activations scattered across the PNE, the photo opportunities were endless.

As the day wound down, Vancouver-born DJ and producer Felix Cartal took the main stage at 6:15 PM. Felix has made Rosé Disco something of a tradition, and he couldn’t have been a better fit as headliner. His sets span multiple genres, blending classic tracks that everyone knows with modern house and indie-pop. His music simply appeals to everyone. Sonically, his original tracks deliver euphoric, feel-good energy, mixed with his blends of songs like The Zombies’ “Time of the Season” and ABBA’s “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” – were perfect for both the attendees dancing at the front gate and those lounging in the sun with a glass in hand.

Everything at Rosé Disco was impeccably themed. Alongside Felix were disco-themed dancers, a massive disco ball overhead, pink stage lighting, and cryo jets firing in sync with each drop.

Feaster truly knows how to throw a summer event that captures Vancouver’s vibrant spirit. Rosé Disco was not just a celebration of wine, but rather a celebration of summer, community, and creativity. With top-tier electronic music from Vancouver’s very own, award-winning wines, and a perfectly curated atmosphere, Rosé Disco is not an event to miss next year.
