Though pop and rock were the genres that Deroche, BC native Annika Catharina first loved, it was the songs of Patsy Cline that drew her to country music. After hearing “Walking After Midnight” and “Crazy”, she wanted to perform country songs any chance she got.
Since 2024, Annika has enjoyed over 1 million digital streams, more than 35 DSP editorial playlist adds, back-to-back #1 singles on SiriusXM Top of the Country Radio, and a semi-finalist slot in the 2025 SiriusXM Top of the Country Competition. She recently played on the main stage at the 2025 BC Country Music Association Awards, where she was nominated for the Ray McAuley Emerging Artist Award.
Now celebrating her debut EP “You and Me”, Annika Catharina is excited, inspired, and – more than anything – grateful for being able to record music and share it with the world.

Favourite musician growing up:
Elton John – I loved his energy and music. We always played his CDs in the car.
Pink – I loved how she was always herself and owned it. I remember loving her sassy lyrics and rad outfits.
Kelly Clarkson – a vocal powerhouse. I was a little obsessed with her and her music after she was on “American Idol”.
Shania Twain – another favourite and someone I look up to in the country pop world.
Favourite musician now:
Avery Anna – currently loving her latest album and the recent singles she has put out. I love her ballads and high-energy songs all about love, heartbreak and self-reflection
Noah Cyrus – has been a big inspiration to me as a songwriter. She is extremely talented and I feel like she doesn’t get the recognition she deserves.
Glorious Sons and JJ Wilde – both of these artists know how to rock out and perform. I love listening to and watching these artists perform live. I am a big fan of rock music and alternative rock!
Guilty pleasure song:
“Last Night” by Morgan Wallen
Live show ritual:
On performance days, I usually like to start the day slow, do a workout or go for a long power walk, and then take my time doing my hair and makeup.
Favourite local musician:
Zoe Twist
