Taiko means big drum in Japanese and Uzume is the nickname for the Japanese Goddess of Laughter. Uzume Taiko (pronounced: oo-zoo-may tie-co) is West Coast Canada’s premiere professional taiko drumming group that has performed both nationally and internationally at concerts and festivals since 1988. They have hand crafted a unique brand of Canadian taiko drumming that offers a visual, sonic and sensual experience to their audience.
