Groove Saloon is a pop-psych band from Vancouver, BC, born of the aberrant but cunning minds of Daniel McBurnie and Graham Gomez. Described as a marriage between Tame Impala and the Backstreet Boys that no one asked for, Groove Saloon’s music can tickle and delight as easily as it can offend and disgruntle.
Previously of the band Good For Grapes, and deviating entirely from their folk roots, this duo emerges with a fresh sonic identity that blends elements of psych-pop, hip-hop, and rock into an intoxicating cosmic gumbo. The release of their fifth single, “LOOK AT ME” marks a shift towards a more grounded, rock-leaning sound.

Name:
Groove Saloon
Genre:
Psych-Pop
Founded:
We founded Groove Saloon in 2022, but we have been making music together for almost 16 years!
# of Albums:
Our latest single “LOOK AT ME” is our fifth single-release, but no full-length albums yet!
Latest Album:
We did a double-single release over the summer called “GOOD-TIMIN” that sonically was the opposite of our latest tune. They were definitely our two most electronic-sounding songs.
Latest Single:
LOOK AT ME, a more rock-leaning song that lyrically is a humorous take on how the intersection of love and insecurity can provoke an intense urge toward self-improvement; a song you could sing to a lover, send to a crush, or scream at yourself in the mirror.
Latest Video:
This video was a blast to be a part of. Parhelion Entertainment absolutely knocked it out of the park. Daniel plays a homewrecking priest who steals Graham’s bride-to-be at his own wedding. Chaos ensues, and Graham ends up turning to an extraterrestrial new friend for love.
Favourite musician growing up:
We were shameless emo kids growing up, catch us at your local emo-night losing our voices.
Favourite musician now:
Graham just got really into Oklou, and Dan is currently loving Mk.gee
Guilty pleasure song:
Barely even feel guilty about
Live show ritual:
Stress out, break a few guitar strings, try to figure which one of these damn cables is causing the buzzing, then probably some nice vocal warmups.
Favourite local musician:
Sending love to local indie-crooner Patrick Farrugia!
EP or LP?
We usually prefer LPs, but that really depends; a strong six songs is better than a full-length album with only three good tracks.
Early bird or night owl?
Most people would not consider us early birds, but our younger selves would be ashamed at how early bedtime is!
Road or studio?
We are more at home in the studio than anywhere else, but we’re eager to start doing a few live shows!
