From the moment Travis Lim first stepped into my studio at age six, his embodiment of our core values—Loyalty, Discipline, and Dedication (LDD)—have been clear. I’ve had the pleasure of watching Travis grow from a kid to a passionate young leader trailblazing his lane as an artist, and, yet those foundational qualities have remained his guiding principles.
Travis’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. During our run on Canada’s Got Talent Travis was tasked with balancing the demands of a full-time UCLA student, navigating lockdowns during the COVID-19, and rehearsing with our team through Zoom. Yet, his commitment was unwavering, always leading by example, and showing his younger teammates the result of passion and resilience. Travis leads life with a relentless commitment to his craft and a hunger for creativity.
Today, Travis is a dynamic teaching artist, infusing his lessons with energy, joy, and a deep respect for Hip Hop’s rich history. As Travis’s journey continues, I know he will keep inspiring those who share his fervour for dance. Travis’s drive and generosity make him a true beacon in the dance community, constantly uplifting those around him. I can’t wait to see what’s next in his journey.

Which ’hood are you in?
I was born and raised in Richmond, BC, where I spent most of my childhood between my dance studio and home. When I’m not in the studio, I love spending my time hiking, going to Robson Square, and eating to my heart’s content. I love that my city is a melting pot of assorted traditions, with amazing food, unique architecture, and a diverse population that makes me feel at home. Today, I spend much of my time travelling between Los Angeles where I work, and Vancouver where my family lives.
What do you do?
I’m currently a full-time teaching artist and professional dancer. I’m fortunate that my dance gets to take me around the world where I adjudicate and teach at dance conventions such as 5-6-7-8 Showtime, Dance World Cup, and iDance. As a teaching artist, my goal is to empower my students to discover their voices, connect with others, and become agents of positive change in their community through the transformative power of Hip Hop dance. This year I’ve had the pleasure of teaching in over 25+ schools reaching over 1,500 students through Hip Hop education programming. In my free time, I love to take dance classes, freestyle with my dance community, and work on creative dance projects that excite me.
What are you currently working on?
Right now, I am signed to the agency McDonald Selznick Associates in Los Angeles. As of late, I have been capitalizing on the momentum I’ve gained from my appearance on Canada’s Got Talent with my team GRVMNT, as well as graduating from UCLA as a Dance Major. Through these opportunities, I have gotten the chance to push myself creatively through music videos, and live performances. As a full-time dancer, I am always running around dipping my hand into many artistic mediums and have been working on my series of dance videos that centre around my love for Hip Hop culture.
Where can we find your work?
You can find my work on my Instagram as participate in community events. As a Hip Hop dancer, community is an integral part of the culture, and I encourage you to find local events where you can engage with the dance community if you have an interest. Robson Square is one central hub of Street Dance in Vancouver where you can always find open sessions, free classes, and community events centred in the heart of downtown. If you are open to experiencing this wonderful dance culture, you will most definitely find me at one of these events. Feel free to say hi if you do!
