“A Day In The Life” with graphic artist Ashley Isabell (AKA: Sleepless Eyes)

Ashley Isabell is a graphic Artist of Vancouver. She believes in the limitless potential of true expression, finding her own in 2020. Working as a music teacher by day, living in reflection on her artistic mission statement of healing catharsis. She brings with her deep musical roots cultivating fertile ground for her creative migration to Visual Art. An estuary of invoking humanity through abstract means.

The eyes are steeped in waters of contemplation. The theme provides an avatar for us to explore our relationship with the vast frontier of the unknown, beyond the constellations. The vertical space above our thoughts, where the ineffable and boundless invite dialogue. Breathing life into forgotten fascinations, warming thoughts frozen in amber. Drifting through the many atmospheres created by Ash’s passion to illuminate the beauty within each of us.

She creates at a prolific rate, perpetually hungry for evolution of shape and line. The use of surrealism and blended colour in our cosmic neighbourhood provokes novel thought and calm belonging. Ashley Isabell finds joy in helping people and meaning in creation. Hers is Art that seeps through our limestone-lined patterns, gifting awe through eyes in the stars. Windows to the soul, they springboard viewers into the celestial Sea of cathartic refuge.

Which ‘hood are you in?

Vancouver BC! But I spend a lot of time in the PNW of the USA!

What do you do?

I am a digital/graphic artist that likes to explore the many dimensions of existence. I incorporate the imagery of eyes into every piece I do, as eyes say what words can’t even quite fathom. They are windows to the soul indeed, but they also bring the etheric through the windows of our physical plain. Essentially, the eyes are a revolving door to the great beyond, which I relentlessly try to keep moving in hopes to encourage endless exploration.

What are you currently working on?

I’m currently working hard on both some merch and getting a website up so there is a place to connect and purchase my art more directly. I’m gratefully drawing some commissions for some rad clients/bands/events while adding more pieces every few days to social media.

Where can we find your work?

So far the best place is Instagram! And I have almost one hundred pieces up on Art Grab, which is a great site to license artwork for album covers and the like. I’m also on Twitter, Facebook, and Threadless.
