The musical journey of Jaya Bremer began long before her front teeth made an appearance, a fact that remains no mere embellishment (owing to a peculiar story of delayed growth until the 4th grade). Bremer has been an integral figure within the local music scene for nearly a decade. Over the years, she has led a gipsy jazz quintet, managed a Patsy Cline tribute band, fronted an indie-rock group known as Wise Child, and recently ventured into her own solo venture, marking her musical independence with the release of the 2020 album, “Everybody’s Getting Married.”
Now, Bremer makes a captivating return with her signature blend of bedroom pop, indie R&B, and subtle electronic nuances in her latest solo creation, “Apartment 4”, released on November 10, 2023. Collaborating with the likes of producers Austin Tufts (from Montreal’s Braids) and Victoria’s own Chris Neal, Bremer delves into expansive synth-scapes, drawing inspiration from the ethereal electro sounds of acts such as Metronomy, skillfully intertwined with the emotional sincerity reminiscent of Robyn’s music.
