Revol Cares

What is your business called and what does it do?

Our business is Revol Cares, a medically recognized, toxin-free leak leak-proof underwear brand redefining menstrual care.

What made you want to do this work?

I have a heavy flow. After bleeding through every product I tried, I was frustrated and tired of spending time and money on products that didn’t work. It felt like life stopped when I had my period – worrying about leaks, checking the clock, and arming myself with backups.
At the time, I was a fashion student, so I put my technical fashion degree to use and developed a product that was actually designed to absorb a super heavy flow. I made this my final project in school, putting period underwear on the runway. During this process, I started to have other menstruators asking for me to make them a pair for their own heavy flow. This sparked the idea for my Etsy shop, and from there, it was clear that the need wasn’t exclusive to me; there was a huge gap in the menstrual care space that I was committed to solving. I wanted to offer options that protect heavy bleeders for the whole day, without worry.

What problem did you want to solve with the business?

33% of menstruators have a heavy flow, and not a single product on the market caters to them. I wanted to create an eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative to disposable pads, tampons and liners that actually worked for heavy flows. I also wanted to get involved in the conversation around regulating period products, pushing for better standards and accessibility. When it comes to setting standards, we are incredibly proud to be the first period underwear brand on the market with medical recognition by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada. We have also partnered with George Brown College in Toronto to create the first-ever menstrual flow absorption test. I’m on a mission to reduce the mental load women carry due to inconsistent product standards and to ensure inclusive, high-quality period care.

Our products are made from high-quality, natural fabrics (organic cotton and bamboo), ensuring a healthier, breathable, and more sustainable alternative to disposable products. The brand is built on inclusivity, embracing all bodies, flows, and experiences, making period care accessible, empowering, and shame-free.

Who are your clientele/demographics?

We support any and all menstruators. Whether it’s heavy or moderate periods, postpartum bleeding, or perimenopausal symptoms, unpredictable flow or spotting, Revol Cares has a product that helps!

How does your business make money? How does it work?

What began as an Etsy shop five years ago has grown significantly! We have grown from an exclusively online-only brand to now also being available in over 3,000 retailers across Canada and the US. You can shop online or find a retailer near you here.

Where in the city can we find your profession?

Vancouver is actually home to a few innovative period care brands, which is great as this industry and the consumer demand are growing quickly. According to NIQ’s 2024 Syndicated Omnishopper panel data, the reusable period care industry has enticed new buyers at a rate of 29%, significantly outpacing the 7% growth rate of the overall period care market. You can find Revol Cares at your local pharmacy and grocery retailer, including London Drugs, Pharmasave, Choices Market, Nature’s Fare, Welks General Store, and more!

What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services? Give the answer as well.

We chat with a lot of customers looking for overnight protection that will allow them to sleep easily. They want assurance, so the best questions to ask are how Revol Cares offers that protection.

Our best overnight option is Charlie, mid-to-high rise boxer shorts offering full coverage with a 5″ inseam and a soft elastic waistband. Made from our signature soft and stretchy bamboo blend, the Charlie is lab tested and proven. This style is Ultra absorbent, capable of taking on up to a whopping 140ml / 4.07oz – that’s 10 super maxi pads/tampons with innovative four-way leak protection. Plus, our signature waistband-to-waistband gusset protection ensures that there is no leakage, no matter how much you move around or how heavy your flow is at night!

What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?

Being able to give peace of mind to women whose lives have been negatively impacted by their menstrual cycles. We hear all the time that we have literally changed the way women work, exercise, socialize and live for that week of the month they’re menstruating. That’s a lot of time to give back!
The worst part is keeping up with demand. It’s incredible to see how many people want better options – but that also means staying ahead on production and inventory is a constant challenge. We never want to compromise on quality, so scaling thoughtfully while meeting growing demand keeps us on our toes in the best way.

What is your favourite joke about your own profession?

Our forecast isn’t seasonal—it’s cyclical. We budget for cravings, cramps, and at least one emotional spiral per quarter.

PAY IT FORWARD: What is another local business that you love?

I’d love to recommend Lavoh, a new Vancouver-based beauty brand that simplifies your skincare and bedtime routine. It’s a reusable facecloth that removes makeup and cleanses your skin using only water, no products required. The cloths are beautifully soft and stylish as well as sustainable and eco-friendly. One Lavoh facecloth replaces approximately 145 packages of disposable wipes, making it an easy and affordable alternative.

The brand was founded by former salon owner and my sister, Eliza Trendiak, in response to the environmental toll of disposable products she saw in the beauty industry. She wanted makeup removal that was quick, effortless, gentle on sensitive skin and eliminated her need for disposable products. Lavoh shares space in our warehouse, so I’ve had the opportunity to see this business grow since it launched last year.
