Harnessing the power of bold colours, imagery, letters and numbers, the art of Michael Soltis succeeds in stimulating the viewer both visually and mentally.
Choosing mixed media as his medium, Michael has an innate ability to tell stories with his art, some intentional and some unintentional. His art invites each viewer to interpret something different and turn it into an individualized experience.
Born in North Dakota and growing up in Washington state, after Michael attended University in Seattle where he obtained a Masters in Education he set his sights on acting, subsequently making the decision to move to Vancouver to pursue a career in film and solidifying his place in the arts. Michael’s love of art and design was established at a young age, but it wasn’t until he was in his late 30’s that he made the daunting decision to take a leap of faith and turn his passion into a career.
Most days, you can find Michael Soltis working at his studio in Tsawwassen BC, walking along the ocean taking inspiration from the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest, or spending time with his two teenage kids. Michael always strives to see the beauty in the world around him, it’s through this outlook that he creates from a place of honesty and relatability.
His work has been featured in House & Home, HGTV.ca, Anthology Magazine, The Artist Catalogue, the Vancouver TED Conference, Comic-Con in Vancouver, as well as several contemporary art blogs and feature articles. Michael is the recipient of awards from both the Society of Canadian Artists and the Canadian Federation of Artists, his paintings are held in corporate and private collections throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.

Which ‘hood are you in?
I live out in suburbia (Tsawwassen) with my two kids. I have a studio there and also work at Parker Street studios on the Eastside of Vancouver.
What do you do?
I am a visual artist working in mixed media.
What are you currently working on?
I am working with some interior designers on pieces for their current projects and doing some commission works for clients. I have a show in March in Palm Springs, CA that I’m also creating a new series for.
