Janky Bungag is sweet and spicy wrapped into a bluegrass pickin’, good timin’ man. Hailing from Vancouver, Janky takes the everyday ins and outs of living in a city and transforms them into a song that each person can relate to. From love to lust, heartbreak to smoke break, he touches on all the emotions with a laid-back, lighthearted energy.
With every strum, you’ll hear a little bit of bluegrass. With every note, you can catch a little bit of country. In every song, you get a cocktail of all of Janky’s musical inspirations: Merle Haggard, David Allen Coe, and Willie Nelson, to name a few. Janky is an escape from the norm of what people think country music is. Some say it’s got shades of punk influence. But if you can’t put your finger on how to describe this music, you can at least call it a good time.

Rapid Fire Local Questions:
What is your favourite local restaurant?
My Favourite Local Restaurants will always be the Foundation and the Black Lodge. (RIP) Current restaurants I enjoy are Zakkushi on Main or New Fuji on W 1st.
What is your favourite street in your city and why?
My favourite street is Main Street. I’ve lived in the Mount Pleasant area for almost 2 decades, and I just love the people and the area.
What is your favourite park in your city and why?
I frequent John Roger’s with my pals and play bluegrass. I like Mount Pleasant Park as for the skate park and the basketball court as well.
What is your favourite music venue and why?
My favourite music venue only existed for a span of 4 days. The North Country Club will always have a place in my heart. As for local venues, I like having the fox down the street from my house. Makes it easier to stumble home after a fun show. I also like green auto DIY venue. A very important place for musicians and best place to find new local music.
What is your favourite music store in your city?
RUFUS GUITAR SHOP 100%
