Recipe for Blueberry Spritz Mocktail

Blueberry Spritz Mocktail

Makes: 1 mocktail (with extra purée to spare for future mocktails)

Ingredients:

  • 1 fl. oz., blueberry purée (recipe below)
  • 8-10 blueberry ice cubes, if desired (recipe below)
  • Pinch of lemon zest
  • Soda Water

Blueberry Purée:

  • 3 cups, frozen blueberries
  • ⅓ cup, sugar

Blueberry Ice Cubes (optional):

  • 1 small container fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 small size or large size round ice cube tray

Directions:

Blueberry Purée

  1. Place ingredients in a small pot and bring to a simmer
  2. Turn the temperature of the stove to medium heat and cook for 10-15 minutes, until sugar is dissolved and berries leach a lot of juice.
  3. Stir periodically to prevent burning.
  4. Remove from the stove and place ingredients into a blender and blend until fully puréed.
  5. Pour purée through a sieve into a container, removing any blueberry seeds.
  6. Cool and place in the fridge until ready to use.

Blueberry Ice Cubes

  1. Fill an ice cube tray with water
  2. Place a blueberry in each slot
  3. Freeze for at least 4 hours

Mixing the Mocktail

  1. Put blueberry purée in the bottom of your glass
  2. Put the ice cubes on top of the purée
  3. Fill glass with soda
  4. Zest a pinch of lemon on top, to taste.
  5. Enjoy!
