How would you describe your comedy style?
I like to think of it as life observation filtered through my anxiety disordered brain with a narrative pizzaz. ‘Observ-anxious storytelling’, if you will.
Who are some of your influences?
Comedian wise, Bridget Everett, Pete Holmes Maria Bamford, Phil Hanley, Erica Sigurdson. They all make me laugh so hard I pee, then think, then laugh again. In that order. But if I didn’t also say “my parents” they would be really upset, because they are very very funny in their own right.
Who was your favourite comedian growing up?
I didn’t really grow up with access to Stand up comedy. I loved sketch comedy and have been a KITH head since my teens.
Who is your favourite comedian now?
I love Taylor Tomlinson, and Maria Bamford. I like the energy and the silliness of them.
What is your pre-show ritual?
A lot of water, walk around the venue, try to get into the same energy as the audience, pee because of the amount of water I just drank. Power pose. Then right before I hit the stage I do breathing exercises to slow my mind ( I prefer abdominal paced breathing, highly recommend.)
What is your favourite place you have performed? Why?
I recently got to open a festival show at JFL Vancouver for Baron Vaughn at the Biltmore. It is a perfect comedy room—it is so cool, a punch of laughs really bounces around the low ceilings in there. I also love Hecklers in Victoria for the same reason. Lucky to experience!
What is your favourite medium for listening or finding new comics/comedians?
Going to shows, following social media accounts that put up a lot of comedy like Don’t Tell Comedy.
Do you have anything to promote right now?
Always! I have so many shows I am excited for and you should check them out on my Instagram
Where can we follow you?
Instagram! The other ones confuse me.
PAY IT FORWARD: Who is another local comic/comedian we should know about?
Rachel Schaefer, Erica Sigurdson, Ola Dada, Tin Lorica. Honestly, I could write a dissertation on the talent in this city.
