Meet Julius “Juice” Caesar! This confident guy came to us all the way from the Sunshine Coast in hopes of finding his forever family. This big general of a cat is one of those rare cats that we see come through our shelter system from time to time. He is a true rescue in the sense that, we suspect, he has never had a soft or inviting environment with humans. His capacity to trust again is amazing and he has been making wonderful progress in foster. If you are looking to provide a home for a misunderstood cat, this is your dude.
This handsome guy went right into foster when he arrived in Vancouver since he cannot tolerate other cats so he would need to be the only pet in the home. His unique ability to enjoy a car ride, long or short, is also a fun quirk of his.
Aside from his fetish of scratching leather, he has good house manners. He stays off counters and tables, doesn’t beg for food, and doesn’t make messes or destroy plants. Did we mention that he is also super photogenic?
Juice’s ideal home would provide safe outdoor access, like a catio or enclosed backyard. We do not feel he would be a good candidate for harness training as he is very, very good at getting out of them, (he is a general after all!).
Julius is a conversationalist, when comfortable, he will have a very in-depth conversation with you by repeating your cadence and tone back to you in meow form – not unlike the viral cat songs going around these days.
He gets overstimulated easily and is not super cuddly by nature. If you ask him nicely, he will accept exactly 3 head pets and no more. He will also accept firm pats on his back near his tail. He likes a firm touch. If you crouch, he will approach for pets again and again, one quick pet at a time on his head until he’s satiated. He also loves greeting visitors to the house for the same attention!
Our foster has given us a lot of wonderful information on what Juice is like on a day-to-day basis and has really enjoyed getting to know him and his big brain energy. If you are interested in adopting Juice, there will be a meeting at the foster’s home where you can learn more about him.
