Meet Taylor Vassallo, the founder, owner, and sole operator of Pebbles & Co. This unique business specializes in creating hand-stamped, metal ID tags and a variety of pet accessories. Taylor’s journey into this craft began as a search for a new hobby, inspired by the popularity of metal stamping on social media. We connected with her to find out more.
What is your business called and what does it do?
My business is called Pebbles & Co. Pebbles & Co. creates hand-stamped, metal ID tags, a variety of pet accessories such as bandanas and fleece sweaters, as well as accessories for humans such as mugs, decals & tote bags.
What made you want to do this work?
Honestly, I was looking for a new hobby and kept seeing metal stamping come up on my social media. I knew immediately that if I was going to get into this hobby then it would be with the purpose of sharing/selling the products I create, as there are only so many pet tags you can create for your own dogs. I’m a creative individual, an avid animal lover and had a basic understanding of entrepreneurship and marketing. I knew no one in my local/surrounding area was creating products like this, at the time, so thought to myself “Why not me”?
What problem did you want to solve with the business?
I wanted to create a more appealing and personalized pet tag than what you could find at your average pet store. Pebbles & Co. is all about creating stylish, unique, and purposeful accessories for pets and pet owners/lovers.
Who are your clientele/demographics?
Pet owners & lovers, friends and family of pet owners, or anything in between.
How does your business make money? How does it work?
Pebbles & Co. makes money through the selling of products via our online website, social media and/or local craft fairs/markets.
Where in the city can we find your profession?
Pebbles & Co. is based out of Prince George, BC. However, aside from the occasional appearance at a local craft fair/market, Pebbles & Co. is run primarily online which means you can find us from the comfort of your home anywhere across Canada.
What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services? Give the answer as well.
I think the best question is truly just what sets me apart from other businesses with similar products. My answer to that would simply be that I can ensure my products are crafted wholeheartedly with intent and purpose. I strive to offer new and creative designs at competitive prices.
What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?
The absolute best part of the job is when I receive photos of pets in my products. The worst part of the job is trying to learn and work alongside the expansive world of social media marketing.
What is your favourite joke about your own profession?
I think the funniest and incredibly ironic thing about my business is that it’s built around pets, and I don’t actually have any of my own at the time.
