What is your business called and what does it do?

Serenity West, founded by my mother Sandra and myself, is a brand and retail store. It’s a destination in Vancouver for those seeking timeless, high-quality fashion that’s both sustainable and flattering. Our collection includes our own designs as well as a handpicked selection of sustainable brands.

What made you want to do this work?

Our journey with Serenity West began from a personal need for stylish, well-fitting, sustainable clothing that didn’t compromise on quality. Realizing this was a shared challenge among many, we launched our brand in 2017, driven by a vision to offer fashion that embodies elegance and sustainability, with a focus on natural materials and designs that flatter every woman.

What problem did you want to solve with the business?

At Serenity West, we aimed to challenge the fast fashion trend by providing sustainable, well-made clothing. Our goal was to create fashion that’s not just stylish and long-lasting, but also respectful to our planet and the people on it.

Who are your clientele/demographics?

Our clientele is predominantly women who look for quality and timeless style in their fashion choices. They are discerning shoppers who prefer elegant clothing that transcends fleeting trends, focusing on garments that offer both beauty and longevity.

How does your business make money? How does it work?

Serenity West generates revenue primarily through the sale of our own line of sustainable clothing and a curated selection of other ethical fashion brands. Customers can purchase our products in our physical store in Vancouver and through our website.

Where in the city can we find your profession?

Serenity West is situated in the South Granville neighbourhood that appreciates local retail businesses. It’s a community that is very walkable and lively. Visit us at 3057 Granville Street.

What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services? Give the answer as well.

A great question from a customer could be: ‘Why should I spend more on sustainable products, and why choose yours?’ The answer: ‘Investing in sustainable products means supporting environmentally responsible and ethical practices. At Serenity West, we ensure our products are made with these principles, providing you with high-quality, long-lasting fashion. By choosing us, you’re not just buying a product; you’re making a statement about the kind of world you want to support and live in.

What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?

The most rewarding part of our work at Serenity West is seeing our customers’ joy as they find clothing that makes them feel confident and stylish. Knowing that our garments, crafted from natural fibres, will be a cherished part of their wardrobes for years to come brings us happiness. The challenge, however, lies in maintaining a sustainable supply chain that upholds our high standards of ethics and quality. It’s a demanding task, but it’s essential to delivering the promise of Serenity West.
