What made you want to do this work?
For me, it’s about creating something meaningful that people enjoy and that adds value to their lives, while also embracing the independence and opportunity that come with entrepreneurship. Growing up in a family business, we wanted to carry on that tradition and build something we’re proud of.
What problem did you want to solve with the business?
When we opened in 2013, craft beer options were limited in Delta, and there was no community brewery. We set out to create a space for connection, great beer, and innovation in brewing.
Who are your clientele/demographics?
Our audience includes casual beer drinkers, craft enthusiasts, and local community members of all genders, ranging in age from 20 to 65
How does your business make money? How does it work?
Revenue comes from wholesale distribution to bars, restaurants, and Liquor Stores, as well as our taproom in Delta and our restaurant, Four Winds Beach House, in Tsawwassen. Limited releases and collaborations, like the Pils Pack, also create excitement and engagement with our brand.
Where in the city can we find your profession?
You can visit us at our two Delta locations: Four Winds Brewing – 4-7355 72nd St, Delta and Four Winds Beach House & Brewery – 6350 Market Ave, Delta, as well as at local bars and restaurants that carry our beers, and across Western Canada in retail locations like BC Liquor Stores and private liquor stores.
What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?
The best part is seeing the impact of the business on our community and our customers; it’s incredibly rewarding to build something people enjoy and value. The hardest part is managing all aspects of a growing, family-run business while trying to keep up with innovation, distribution, and operations.
What is your favourite joke about your own profession?
That I’m a professional beer sampler.
