Sage Hart finds the humour in the absurdity of everyday life. His comedic style is, perhaps for some, an acquired taste, but he brings a playful, offbeat perspective to the stage, where he turns life’s weirdest moments into laughs. A regular in Vancouver’s comedy scene and co-host of the weekly Comedy King showcase, he’s built a reputation for embracing chaos and the unexpected. We chatted with Knipstrom to learn more about his influences, favourite jokes, and what keeps him coming back to the mic.

How would you describe your comedy style?
Not for everyone, but just right for me
Who are some of your influences?
My influences come from the absurdity of everyday life and how backwards most things are. Also, I can’t lie: I just got a new dog, and that’s been teaching me a lot about myself. So I would say that my biggest influence right now is my puppy, Alana
Who was your favourite comedian growing up?
My favourite comedian growing up was probably my dad. Although, looking back again, I can’t lie, most of the jokes I loved were just funny accents and mostly things that didn’t “age” quite well. But they say comedy is subjective, and I stand by that.
Who is your favourite comedian now?
Lukas McCrary
What is your pre-show ritual?
I usually drink like two tall boys and stare at the sun with Oakleys on. For a safe amount of time. Then I cry at this rock by science world. Again, for a safe amount of time.
What is your favourite place you have performed? Why?
I performed at this car show/weed party one time in Langley. The booker was a friend of mine, whom I knew in grade 7. Hadn’t heard from him in 10+ years, then he books me on a show.
I know, crazy right?!
Anyways, I think it was my favourite because it was very early in my “career” lol. I was only about 1 year in. Someone in the back row passed out from taking too many dabs during the last guy’s set. (Shout out Keller Reeves) I just loved it because of the hijinx and the absurdity of the whole event.
I also got paid 100$ so I might be a bit biased.
What is your favourite bit you have written and why were you proud of it?
Honestly, my favourite joke I’ve ever written is one I don’t do anymore, but I’m probably going to start again after this.
“They say goldfish have the shortest memory spans out of any animal, which makes sense because I would want a short memory span too if I had to live in cardboard box covered in cheese my whole life”
What is your favourite medium for listening or finding new comics/comedians?
I’m a big podcast guy
(shoutout LOS, MSSP, REGZ)
But as far as local comedians or finding new comedians goes, the best medium is real life. Go to shows. All shows. Learn what it means to be a performer.
Tell us a joke about your city.
I’m gonna give a big shout out to a local comedian by the name of Don Kenny because he has the best joke about Vancouver right now.
“Vancouver BC, has so much human excrement on the ground they should call it Vancouver fece. The other day I was walking past fece place”
Do you have anything to promote right now?
