Charitable Choices: Rachel Beau of The KindMind ConfiDANCE Tour

Vancouver-based entertainer and youth advocate Rachel Beau is on a mission to make mental health education joyful, musical, and empowering. As the founder of Rock’n’Beau Entertainment and creator of the KindMind ConfiDANCE Tour—a partnership with the Kelty Foundation—Beau has transformed her background in performance into a movement for confidence, connection, and emotional well-being in schools. Through music, movement, and creative learning, the KindMind ConfiDANCE Tour helps children build resilience and self-expression while normalizing conversations around mental health.

KindMind ConfiDANCE Tour

Describe your charity/non-profit/volunteer work in a few sentences.

The KindMind ConfiDANCE Tour is a four-week mental health program that helps kids build confidence, emotional awareness, and resilience through fun and creative learning. Each week, students complete interactive challenges and lessons using videos and workbooks at home or with parents, teachers, or caregivers. When the four weeks are complete, kids earn the ConfiDANCE celebration, a high-energy event where they express themselves through music and movement, connect with one another, and bring all their lessons to life. This joyful experience strengthens school spirit, encourages self-expression, and inspires kids to celebrate who they are in the moment.

What problem does it aim to solve?

The KindMind ConfiDANCE Tour aims to help kids feel seen, heard, and supported in a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming. It focuses on teaching an upstream approach to mental health by helping children recognize and express their emotions before they build up inside. Through each lesson, kids learn that it is safe to talk about how they feel and that opening up to trusted people such as friends, parents, teachers, principals, or caregivers is an act of courage, not weakness. By normalizing conversations about feelings, we help reduce shame and create stronger connections within schools and families. The program gives kids the tools to communicate openly, embrace their uniqueness, and build real confidence while having fun and celebrating who they are.

When did you start/join it?

The idea for the KindMind ConfiDANCE Tour was sparked soon after our KindMind Festival with the Kelty Foundation in the spring of 2024. That event ignited a shared vision to take the message of confidence, kindness, and emotional well-being directly into schools. We officially launched the KindMind ConfiDANCE Tour soon after, building on years of performing and empowering kids through Rock’n Beau events. Partnering with the Kelty Foundation made it possible to bring this movement to schools and communities across British Columbia. We successfully completed our first tour season across the Lower Mainland and are now expanding to reach even more schools throughout the province, creating lasting change through movement, music, and mental wellness education.

What made you want to get involved?

My heart has always been with the kids. Seeing how music and movement could instantly transform a room inspired me to build something that does more than entertain, something that uplifts, connects, and heals. The ConfiDANCE Tour is about reminding every child that they already have everything they need inside them to shine. The next generation is so important, and giving them experiences that celebrate life in the moment with no screens, no scrolls, and pure presence is one of my biggest motivations. Through movement, music, and connection, we are helping kids return to what really matters , being themselves and feeling free to express it.

What was the situation like when you started?

When we first began, there was a growing awareness of the mental health challenges facing children and youth, yet many families and schools were unsure how to approach these conversations. We are in an epidemic of mental health struggles, and a lot of parents, teachers, and caregivers are not fully aware of the resources, coping tools, and communication techniques needed to support emotional well-being. The KindMind ConfiDANCE Tour was created to provide a safe and welcoming space to start these conversations and to help kids feel free to express themselves without judgment.

As schools began to gather again after long periods of isolation and uncertainty, there was also a strong need for experiences that rebuilt connection, inclusion, and community spirit. Our program gives students a chance to reconnect with one another, to move, to laugh, and to remember what it feels like to be part of something bigger. When we raise our energy together, we raise our confidence, share more kindness, and become more comfortable expressing who we truly are. That sense of belonging and shared joy is at the heart of what this movement brings to every school we visit.

How has it changed since?

The response has been incredible. We’ve expanded to new schools, added mental-health programming, and continue to see kids open up, dance freely, and talk about their emotions in ways that feel cool and natural. The energy in every gymnasium is electric.

What more needs to be done?

There is still so much more to do. After we take the KindMind ConfiDANCE Tour province-wide, our goal is to expand even further with the big dream of pursuing a nationwide tour. We want to continue creating digital content that supports families long after we visit their communities, offering ongoing inspiration and tools for emotional wellness. We also hope to encourage schools and organizations across Canada to host their own KindMind Festivals, bringing more resources, coping mechanisms, and awareness to kids and youth mental health from coast to coast.

At the heart of it all, we want to keep creating spaces of safety where children, parents, and educators can talk openly about mental health, confidence, and emotions with one another. By normalizing these conversations and connecting communities through movement, music, and kindness, we can help every child feel seen, supported, and empowered to shine.

How can our readers help?

You can help by sponsoring a school, sharing our mission, or donating through the Kelty Foundation to support the KindMind Tour ConfiDANCE program. Every contribution helps us bring this experience to more kids who need it most, giving them the chance to build confidence, connect with others, and learn valuable tools for emotional well-being. Together, we can help raise the next generation to be kind, confident, and unafraid to express who they are.

Do you have any events coming up?

Yes, the KindMind ConfiDANCE Tour is gearing up for an exciting season ahead. We currently have 36 schools on our calendar, beginning with the first big leg of our tour in Whistler during the first week of November. We are also planning a KindMind Festival with the community of Vancouver West in March 2026, which will bring together families, educators, and local leaders to celebrate kids/youth mental health, connection, and confidence through movement, music, and fun.
