Portia the dog is looking for a new home in the Vancouver area

Portia is a gentle and affectionate dog who came into our care when her previous owner could no longer care for her. This big, sweet girl loves being around people and she loves belly rubs and enjoys running around the yard. Given her size, she will need a home with enough space for her to roam comfortably. Portia has shown some resource guarding with her food, so she’ll need adopters who are committed to working with her through consistent training to help manage this behaviour. She is eager to please and loves treats, making training a fun bonding experience.

Portia has food allergies and is on a limited ingredient diet, along with lifelong medication to help manage her flare ups. To prevent skin irritation, she’ll need regular medicated baths. She would do best as the only pet in the home but may be able to make calm and respectful doggy friends outside of it given slow and proper introductions.

Portia is a loving and resilient dog who deserves a caring home where she can get the support she needs to thrive.
