Cheerio the dog is looking for a new home in the Vancouver area

Meet Cherrio, the energetic 2.5-year-old Goldendoodle looking for a forever home. Cheerio loves to play with squeaky toys and is a total pro at fetch, she will even carry toys with her on walks for some impromptu catch sessions while she’s out and about. Cheerio can be wary of strangers and needs calm introductions to new people before she is comfortable with handling them. Once you are in the “Cheerio Club”, however, get ready for face kisses and zoomies galore! On walks, Cheerio is quite reactive to other dogs and people walking by, so she will need a confident and experienced guardian who can continue with her training and help quell her anxiety. She will not be suitable for apartment living or busy neighbourhoods, as her walkers need to be able to avoid close contact with strangers and other dogs while working on her reactivity. Luckily, Cheerio is very food-motivated, which has been making training much easier!

Cheerio is very good about being brushed, but very wary of the clippers and scissors that are necessary to maintain her fluffy coat. Desensitization and an experienced groomer are a must for keeping her clean, comfortable, and healthy. Cheerio may be successful in a home with a confident canine companion to teach her the ropes, as after a calm introduction Cheerio is very playful with other dogs. However, we don’t recommend Cheerio go to a home with cats or young children. We strongly recommend that Cheerio’s adopters meet with an AnimalKind trainer to get started on the right foot once she gets home and to ensure her training is consistent. With gentle guidance from an experienced owner, she is sure to become more confident and eager to explore the world around her with newfound assurance.
