Callie the dog is looking for a new home in the Vancouver area

Meet Callie, a super sweet (and slobbery) bulldog looking for a comfy retirement home. Callie didn’t have it easy early in her life and was often sleeping outdoors and didn’t have consistent access to vet care. Despite these challenges, this girl has nothing but love to give, and everybody she meets gets an affectionate headbutt and a wagging tail. As a senior bulldog, Callie might not be a very good hiking partner, but her couch potato skills are second to none! She’s a professional nap-taker and loves to plop down next to you on the couch and chew on her squeaky toys. Callie has some separation anxiety and barks when she is left alone or is unable to follow you around the house. She settles down after a little while, but her potential adopters should be prepared for some gradual separation training for her first few weeks at home.

Callie has hypothyroidism, a condition that slows her metabolism and will require daily medication to control for the rest of her life. She’s also got some hip issues from spending long periods of time sleeping on hard floors, so she won’t be able to climb large flights of stairs in her new home. Her mobility has been steadily improving since coming into our care, but potential adopters do need to be aware of the changing needs of senior sweethearts like Callie. Callie might not be an Olympic-level athlete, but her goofy personality and her big heart win her a gold medal in our books! Come meet her at the Vancouver SPCA today!
