Balto is a 6-year-old mix who came into our care due to unfortunate circumstances. When Balto arrived at the BCSPCA, he was severely underweight and is on a refeeding plan to help him slowly and safely gain the weight he needs. He also has some separation anxiety as a result of his past, and his potential adopters will need to be willing to work with him to ensure that he is comfortable being left alone for longer stretches of time.
This handsome boy is intelligent and eager to engage with his people, making him a great candidate for continued training and enrichment. Despite the challenges he has faced, Balto remains a sweet and gentle companion who enjoys affection and human connection. He would do best in a home without young children or cats, and would prefer a larger space with safe outdoor access.
Balto is looking for a committed, understanding home that can provide structure, patience, and lots of love as he continues his journey. If you’re searching for a loyal, mature dog with a kind heart, Balto may be the perfect addition to your family.
