Myles Anderson is a Vancouver-based comedian. With his love for words and arm flourishes he’s sure to have you laughing the whole time. We caught up with him to learn more and find out what’s next.
How would you describe your comedy style?
Specific, humorous words, punctuated by arm flourishes and precise eyebrow and nostril movements.
Who are some of your influences?
Matt Johnson and Jay McCarroll
Who was your favourite comedian growing up?
Chris Rock
Who is your favourite comedian now?
Rory Scovel
What is your pre-show ritual?
Nervously riff with other comics backstage until 1 minute before I go on. Then I stare at the ground for 45 seconds and go over my set.
What is your favourite place you have performed? Why?
Hecklers Comedy Club is my favourite place to perform because it’s where I started, and I always feel like I’m home there.
What is your favourite bit you have written and why were you proud of it?
I wrote a Christmas song for Scientologists called “One Billion Years of Christmas” (it’s on YouTube). I’m proud of it because it combines my love of music, jokes, and Scientology.
What is your favourite medium for listening or finding new comics/comedians?
Going to see live shows is my favourite way to discover new comics. I hate having the algorithm recommend comedians to me.
Tell us a joke about your city.
For me to afford a condo in this city I would need to do between 800-900 comedy shows every year for 15 years.
Do you have anything to promote right now?
My new standup special Myles Per Hour was released on the 800 Pound Gorilla YouTube Channel on May 16th.
Where can we follow you?
PAY IT FORWARD: Who is another local comic/comedian we should know about?
Ryan Lachance is very funny, and I hope he sees this so he will hire me to write on his future show one day.
