Meet April Knoll, the visionary founder and working artist behind Tree-D Canvas. As the creative force of the business, April is dedicated to transforming indoor spaces with her unique moss art creations. Tree-D Canvas was born from April’s desire to address a common issue: the growing disconnect between contemporary indoor environments and the calming presence of nature. We connected with her to learn more.
What is your business called and what does it do?

What made you want to do this work?
I’ve always wanted to make a living doing something creative, and when I discovered preserved moss, I knew I had found my calling. I’ve always had a deep love for nature—trees, mountains, and, of course, moss. It felt like a natural fit to combine my passion for the outdoors with my artistic vision, and that’s how my journey into moss art began.
What problem did you want to solve with the business?
When I started my business as a moss artist, my goal was to solve a problem many people face: the disconnect between modern indoor spaces and the calming presence of nature. In a world dominated by technology and fast-paced living, I wanted to create a way for people to reconnect with the serenity and beauty of the natural world, even while indoors. My art pieces bring the essence of nature into homes and offices, offering an elegant, low-maintenance solution for those who crave greenery but may not have the time or space for traditional plants. By incorporating preserved moss into art, I aim to create environments that inspire, soothe, and enhance well-being.

What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services? Give the answer as well.
Our moss art is crafted with a focus on high-quality, sustainably sourced preserved moss and natural materials, ensuring it is both eco-friendly and long-lasting. Each piece is carefully designed to suit your space, blending aesthetics with biophilic benefits. Unlike live plants, our moss art requires no maintenance, watering, or sunlight, making it a hassle-free option for adding nature indoors. We also offer customization to meet your specific needs, ensuring a unique and tailored addition to your decor.
What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?
Best Part: The best part of creating moss art is bringing the beauty and calming essence of nature into people’s spaces, helping them feel more connected to the natural world. Seeing the joy and amazement on a client’s face when they receive a custom piece designed just for them is incredibly rewarding. It’s also fulfilling to know the art promotes sustainability and biophilic design, which positively impacts mental well-being and the environment.
Worst Part: The worst part about making moss wall art? The fact that it’s so green and relaxing, it’s hard to stop and finish the project. You just want to keep adding more moss!
What is your favourite joke about your profession?
Why did the moss artist bring a ladder to work?
Because they were ready to take their art to the next level!
