What is your business called and what does it do?

Alive and Aglow is a local, lifestyle grip socks brand designed for everyone! Our socks are thoughtfully designed, eco-friendly, and seriously stylish. Whether you’re a fitness enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates quality, our socks are crafted to meet your everyday needs. The socks are a perfect blend of funkiness and elegance with our classic and embroidered designs. All of our products are made with premium quality cotton that is comfortable, durable and sustainable.

What made you want to do this work?

We have been big fans of grip socks for the longest time since we love buying them for our son who dislikes wearing slippers at home. The idea of wearing grip socks on ourselves never came to mind until we started attending Pilates classes. We soon realize that we love wearing them so much that they effectively replaced the traditional slippers. The grip socks are ideal for navigating hardwood floors since they prevent us from slipping while walking up and down the stairs as well as providing support and comfort.

What problem did you want to solve with the business?

The grip socks currently on the market are functional, but we realize that they are not fashionable to match our clothes. We want to create grip socks that are the perfect blend between fashion and function. We embarked on a mission to infuse fun and style into the grip socks that we design, so they can complement different clothing and styles while keeping people who wear them steady on their feet.

Who are your clientele/demographics?

Anyone! Doesn’t matter if you are a fitness enthusiast like us or someone who appreciates quality and comfort, there is something for everyone. We are launching our kid’s collection soon, which is perfect for families.

What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services? Give the answer as well.

What material do we use in our grip socks?

All of our grip socks are made with 100% premium organic cotton with the grips being silicon.

What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?

The creative process of designing and producing our socks is undeniably the most fulfilling aspect of our journey. The constant stream of ideas fueling our imagination is exhilarating, and witnessing our designs materialize into tangible products brings us immense joy. The genuine appreciation and love from those who embrace our designs further magnify this magical experience.

However, as a small local business, time constraints present significant challenges. With numerous responsibilities resting on our shoulders, from sock design to coordinating with manufacturers, managing online platforms, crafting engaging social media posts, and handling administrative tasks, we often find ourselves stretched thin. The longing for more hours in a day becomes palpable as we strive to shoulder every aspect of the business independently.

Despite these time-related hurdles, our unwavering passion and determination drive us to overcome challenges and continue pursuing our creative vision.

What is your favourite joke about your own profession?

Why did the small business owner go on a diet? Because they heard that success comes in small portions!
