For YvonneCeramics, mornings begin with sunlight streaming into her cozy studio, blending with the inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the gentle melodies playing in the background. The worries of her former teaching job are a thing of the past as she eagerly immerses herself in her passion which is pottery.
With her tiny hands, Yvonne moulds clay into wonderful shapes, bringing to life the playful designs she envisioned the night before. “It’s like painting with mud!” she often exclaims with joy. In the garage, the kiln is firing quietly, transforming yesterday’s creations into pieces of art.
From her hands emerge adorable animals and quirky shapes, sure to bring smiles to those who encounter them. She creates berry bowls, sculptures and even her own tools. Yvonne takes pride in knowing that her work graces the shelves of her store, spreading happiness to others.

Which hood are you in?
My studio is tucked away in a quiet corner of New Westminster. It’s surrounded by beautiful gardens and right next to the Fraser River. It’s the perfect spot to find my inspiration and let my imagination run wild.
What do you do?
I wear many hats as a ceramic artist! You might catch me on my YouTube channel, YvonneCeramics, sharing the ins and outs of pottery with fellow enthusiasts. I also teach ceramic tutorials there, sharing my love for the craft with the world. When I’m not filming, you’ll find me elbow-deep in clay, creating unique pieces that you can snag at the Makers Metrotown store. I also love to showcase my work in group exhibitions whenever I can!
What are you currently working on?
Right now, I’m knee-deep in the exciting hustle of building up inventory for the Makers store. Christmas can be a very hectic time. I’ve got an extra exciting project on the horizon—I’ll be jetting off to a ceramic residency in Japan next year! To get ahead of the game, I’m starting my Christmas inventory early. My week is a whirlwind of clay—three days in the studio, getting my hands dirty, and two days crafting videos to share with you all. It’s all about finding that balance!
Where can we find your work?
You can swing by the Makers Metrotown store to snag some of my ceramic art! If you want to stay in the loop with all my latest adventures in clay, you can follow me on Instagram and subscribe to my YouTube channel.
