The Golden Cadillac is a cocktail taught by Fine Art Bartending ages ago when the school was started. We’re reviving this tasty classic because it’s simple to create, follows some basic cocktail-making principles and works well with the curriculum.
The Golden Cadillac is a great blend of vanilla, chocolate and cream… and they go down dangerously fast. The vanilla liqueur of choice is the herbal Italian liqueur known as Galliano. Creme de cacao supplies the chocolate flavours. Cream really is just cream. Half and half, or light whipping cream would do the trick.
The ingredients are added to a shaker in equal parts, with cubed ice, and are then shaken to chill and mix. 8-10 seconds of vigorous shaking would be sufficient, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish could be a little cocoa, a vanilla bean, or even a dusting of some powdered hot chocolate.
The Golden Cadillac
Equipment Needed:
Shaker tin
Hawthorne Strainer
Cocktail glass, or coupe
Ingredients:
Galliano (although Licor 43 would also work well)
Creme de Cacao
Half and Half (or light whipping cream)
Cubed Ice
Cocoa powder, cinnamon, or vanilla bean to garnish
Instructions:
Chill your cocktail glass with ice and a splash of water fill shaker tin half full of ice
Add 1 oz of Galliano to shaker tin
Add 1 oz of Creme de Cacao to shaker tin
Add 1 oz of Light Whipping Cream to shaker tin
Cap the shaker tin and shake vigorously for 8-10 seconds. This mixes and chills the ingredients, while also providing a small amount of dilution for the cocktail and froth
Dump the chilling ice out of your now chilled cocktail glass
Strain into the chilled glass and garnish
Enjoy!!!
